Apart from its renowned ancient civilization, remains of which we still find all over the island, Evia also displays a rich and vivid contemporary cultural activity.

Chalkida is known to be the town of the world-renowned composer Skalkotas, the literary man Skaribas, etc. All over Evia and Skyros a number of cultural associations work with a view to preserving the cultural identity of the region.
